Fair Haven Homes Society receives basic funding from the Health Authorities to provide care for 200 elders living in Vancouver Lodge and Burnaby Lodge. This funding is appropriate and ensures quality staff and services are available; however, we do appreciate donations to help to create a more home-like atmosphere for our residents by beautifying our spaces, updating our equipment, and adding services and programs.
Fair Haven is recognized for its focus on person-centred care. We are committed to providing a holistic care approach which includes activities and resources that enhance the quality of life of our residents who call Fair Haven home.
Fair Haven is also proud to acknowledge that we now provide homes for more than 350 low to moderate-income seniors. Funding for repairs and upgrades are always gratefully received and used to provide safe homes for seniors in our community living on a limited or fixed income.
No matter how you give – whether it be volunteering time, donating money one time, monthly or through bequests (stocks and bonds, insurance policies or annuities) – your help is essential to supporting the Fair Haven community. As stewards of donated funds, we pay particular attention to ensure your donation makes a difference.
We use donated funds in these major areas:
COVID-19 Additional Equipment: COVID-19 has highlighted the need to ensure we minimize equipment movement through the building. Therefore, we need additional care tools such as slings for lifts, bathing equipment, specialty mattresses, thermometers and more. We are also much more reliant on interactive gadgets to stay connected and are purchasing iPads, speakers, CD players and more.
Quality of Life Programs: Music Therapy, Art Therapy, entertainment, and Spiritual Care programs.
Capital Equipment/Projects: Equipment such as mechanical lifts, pressure reduction mattresses and oxygen concentrates are some of the items purchased through donations. Garden enhancements, new furnishings and space renovations are also funded through the generosity of donors.
Staff Appreciation: A wonderful way to recognize staff for their commitment to providing person-centred care. A Staff committee works together to promote positive, constructive and team building activities for Fair Haven staff, this group directs how donations are used.
We invite you to share in the endless possibilities to support the mission to create a community that serves seniors in need.
